Hans Emil Weber

Hans Emil Weber (born March 8, 1882 in Mönchengladbach ; † June 13, 1950 in Bonn ) was a Protestant theologian .

Life

Weber was born the son of a pastor and social reformer and attended grammar school in his hometown until 1891. He studied theology at the universities of Neuchâtel , Bonn , Erlangen and Greifswald . After his first exam in Koblenz, he became a licensee in Greifswald in 1905 . After that he was inspector at Tholuckkonvikt in Halle until 1910 . During this time he received his doctorate in theology in Erlangen in 1907. In the same year he completed his habilitation in Halle with a thesis on the analytical method of Lutheran orthodoxy and became a lecturer for the New Testament and the history of theology. In 1909 he received an honorary the band of Halle Wingolf awarded. In 1912 he got an extraordinary and in 1913 a full professorship at the University of Bonn. Here he also taught systematic theology . Now he also received the honorary philistine volume from the Bonn Wingolf . In the First World War Weber served as a military chaplain and hospital pastor until 1915 . From 1919 to 1922 he was a member of the German National People's Party . During the church struggle , despite differing theological positions, he stood by his colleague Karl Barth's side and was therefore forcibly transferred to the University of Münster . In 1937 Weber retired early at his own request and retired to Geilenkirchen . After the Second World War he returned to his old chair in Bonn and was finally retired in 1950.
