Hans Hafner (born October 28, 1972 in Rottweil ) is a German composer and sound designer . He lives in Berlin .

Live and act

Hans Hafner studied composition and production at the Berklee College of Music . He has composed music for various television series ( Ein Fall für Zwei , The Young and the Restless , Zeit der Sehnsucht ), for Gianna Nannini , You Pretty Thing and Jayney Klimek , as well as for independent films. He also works as a composer and music producer in advertising for companies such as Nivea , Mercedes-Benz and EnBW , and as a sound designer for synthesizers from u-he , refx and Native Instruments .

In 2003 Gianna Nannini commissioned a short choral work in Wagnerian opera style for the song Amore Cannibale , which was recorded in Milan together with Gianna Nannini. The song Contaminata , for which Hafner also composed the massive choir, was remixed by the Berlin artist Apparat .

In 2006 Hafner created the commercial for Rich Prosecco - The Paris Hilton Drink , which consisted only of beatbox, a synth line and vocals. In 2007 he set the episodes Bitter Knowledge and Murderous Falsifications to music together with Edition Meister . A case for two is one of the oldest German series for which new episodes are still being produced. In 2008, Hewlett-Packard International commissioned Hafner to set music for the performance at Drupa , which takes place every four years and which this year consisted of a 180 ° surround video production.

In 2010, Askania Media Production (Berlin) commissioned the composition of the music for the 13-part, multi-award-winning real-time children's series Alone Against Time , which Hafner performed together with Pivo Deinert .

Artistic profile

Hafner's music is mostly a combination of classical instruments and electronic sound elements. It is not uncommon for his voice to be used, which is usually not used in traditional singing, but is sampled and processed.

Hafner's work also includes clear and simply structured pieces in small formations, such as for the bilingual children's radio play Tales of Booboo . This radio play was used as a Christmas present on the website of the audio device manufacturer Metric Halo .

Hafner was a founding member of the realtime electro project LAN , which consisted of 4 laptops, beatbox, live percussion, vocals and cello without any prepared material. All instruments could be sampled and sliced directly and thus serve as a real-time component for the piece.
