Hans Haider (* 1935 in Cuxhaven ; † November 20, 2010 in Hamburg ) was a German guitarist , musical instrument maker and composer .

Life

Haider first learned violin maker , received violin lessons and learned to play the guitar autodidactically. In post-war Hamburg he played as a guitarist in soldiers' clubs, but also had to take up other activities. As he could read music, he found employment as a guitarist in theaters and in various orchestras, e. B. with James Last or Kai Warner , accompanied many popular solo artists of the time (e.g. Freddy Quinn , Harald Juhnke or Caterina Valente ) and worked with numerous guitarists and lutenists, including Peter Horton , Sigi Schwab or David Qualey , whom he helped build his career in Germany.

In the summer months from 1961 to 1967 Haider worked as a lifeguard in Wenningstedt on Sylt as an employee of the spa administration.

Haider composed for solo guitar as well as guitar concerts, which were recorded by various radio stations. Haider also worked as a lecturer at the University of Music (now the Hamburg University of Music and Theater ) and at the Hamburg Conservatory .

Instruments

Haider was a trained violin maker and began producing his own type of instrument in the early 1970s. He developed several lute instruments that combined the characteristics of the guitar and the lute . He called this type of instrument "Lautarre".
