Hans Heinrich Kaminsky

Hans Heinrich Kaminsky (born May 9, 1938 in Leverkusen ; † June 1, 2018 ) was a German historian .

The son of an engineer spent school and university in the Rhineland. In 1958 he passed the Abitur at Leverkusen High School. He completed his studies in history, historical auxiliary sciences , Middle Latin philology and German studies from 1958 to 1964 at the University of Cologne . His academic teachers included Theodor Schieffer , Heinrich Büttner and Karl Langosch . From 1966 to 1972 he worked at the University of Giessen as a research assistant to Carlrichard Brühl . With Theodor Schieffer he received his doctorate in 1968 with a thesis inspired by Büttner on the Corvey Imperial Abbey during the Salier period . He taught from 1972 until his retirement in 2003 as a professor for medieval history and historical auxiliary sciences at the University of Giessen. From 1981 to 1985 he was an honorary city councilor in Giessen. The promotion and application of auxiliary sciences was important to him. From 1985 to 2003 he was 1st chairman of the "Gießener Numismatic Society e. V. “In 2005 he became a scientific member of the Historical Commission for Hesse .

He devoted himself primarily to the history of Hesse and published numerous works on individual cities, villages and noble families. He tried to show that the table goods directory was most likely an inventory under Lothar III. from the years before his first Italian train in 1132/33. For the Lexicon of the Middle Ages he wrote numerous articles on the early medieval history of Italy .
