Hans Huber (lawyer)

Hans Huber (born May 24, 1901 in St. Gallen ; † November 13, 1987 in Muri bei Bern ; reformed ; resident in Heldswil , from 1931 in St. Gallen) was a Swiss legal scholar and federal judge .

Life

Hans Huber, son of the textile merchant Johannes Huber, devoted himself to studying law at the Universities of Zurich and Bern , especially with Walther Burckhardt , after graduating from the St. Gallen Cantonal School , and graduated in 1926 with a doctorate . In the same year he also passed the bar exam in Zurich.

Huber initially worked as a lawyer in Zurich. In 1929 he was given the post of Secretary of the Federal Supreme Court, assigned to the 1st Civil Department. In the March 1934 session of the Federal Assembly , he was elected federal judge. 1946 joined Huber at the Institute for State , administrative and international law at the University of Bern, he until his retirement held in 1970th In addition, he was rector there in the 1960/61 academic year .

Hans Huber - he was a supporter of the young liberal movement - expanded thinking on constitutional law by taking into account findings from the social sciences , political science , history and other sciences. In 1978 he was awarded the Culture Prize of the City of St. Gallen and honorary doctorates from the Universities of Bonn and Geneva .

From 1937 Hans Huber was married to Elly Künzler, daughter of the embroidery merchant Hermann Walter Künzler.
