Hans Karl Briegleb (born May 1, 1805 in Bayreuth ; † September 5, 1879 in Göttingen ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Born the son of a magistrate , Briegleb studied theology and law in Erlangen , Heidelberg and Jena after attending grammar school in Bayreuth . During his studies he became a member of the Old Erlanger Burschenschaft in 1822 , of the Old Heidelberg Burschenschaft in 1825 and of the Germania Jena Burschenschaft in 1830 . Because of his work on the board of the Erlangen fraternity, he got the Consilium abeundi in 1824 . In Jena he was involved in the division of the fraternity into Arminen and Germanic tribes . In 1832 he was promoted to Dr. iur. doctorate and then worked as a lawyer in Nuremberg . In 1837 he became a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Deputies . In 1842 he became a full professor of law in Erlangen, then from 1845 in Göttingen. In 1849 he became a member of the First Chamber of the Hanoverian Estates Assembly .
