Hans Ney

Hans Ney (born February 10, 1924 in Nauen , Havelland ; † June 12, 2016 ) was a frigate captain of the German Navy . D. , local researcher in the North Sea resort of Hooksiel and author.

Career

Hans Ney served in the German Navy in Wilhelmshaven from 1961 to 1982 , most recently as a frigate captain.

From 1975 Ney lived in Hooksiel, where he campaigned for the expansion of the historic harbor and researched the history of the Sielort . His projects included the establishment of the mill memorial in 1985 and the organization of Hooksiel's 440th anniversary in 1986.

Ney published a number of local history books and writings. He also wrote articles on the archaeological finds within the districts of Hooksiel and the Wangerland . Ney regularly organized exhibitions and lecture series on these finds and local history. Most recently in 2007 he organized the exhibitions “floating dredger and onion dome”, “dredger in action on the coast” and “old Hooksiel”.

In 2005 the Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture Lutz Stratmann awarded him the Cross of Merit on the Ribbon of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit for his commitment to local research and the village community .
