Hans Quecke (politician)
Hans Quecke (born March 4, 1901 in Gelsenkirchen , † April 29, 1945 in Munich ) was a German lawyer and senior civil servant . He was a sympathizer of the White Rose and a critic of the regime at the time of National Socialism in Germany. He was a brother of the actress Else Quecke .
Career
Hans Quecke studied law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg im Breisgau . There he became a member of the KDStV Hercynia Freiburg im Breisgau and the VKDSt. Rhenania Marburg, both in CV . His sister Herta was married to Harald Dohrn , whose daughter from his first marriage was married to Christoph Probst , a member of the White Rose. He was a sympathizer of this association and to that extent an anti-Nazi regime. However, he worked in the leading position of a ministerial councilor in the Reich Ministry of Economics (RWM) until 1945 and was apparently completely loyal to the outside world. Quecke was involved in the RWM in directing the German and more or less also the continental European economy and optimizing its earnings.
In 1945 he and his brother-in-law took part in an appeal by the Bavarian Freedom Campaign . However, he was denounced and on April 29, 1945, shortly before the American invasion, he and his brother-in-law were shot by an SS commando in the courtyard of the Central Ministry in Munich . Their bodies were disposed of in a bomb crater in the Perlacher Forest and only found months later. The mortal remains found their final resting place in the cemetery at Perlacher Forst , in the same row of graves in which the Scholl siblings (White Rose) are buried.
Appreciation
The Catholic Church accepted Hans Quecke as a witness of faith in the German martyrology of the 20th century .
