Hans Raspotnik

Hans Raspotnik (born February 27, 1910 ; † March 29, 1995 in Berlin ) was a German director and film producer.

Life

Raspotnik began his artistic career at the age of 17 as an artist in the Sarrasani circus . He also worked in film productions and was imprisoned by the Gestapo because he made it possible for other actors to escape from the Czech Republic. After his arrest, he was first brought to Sachsenhausen concentration camp and then transferred to Buchenwald concentration camp . From there he managed to escape to Yugoslavia. Raspotnik returned to Germany with the American troops.

In the 1950s he began his film career as a consultant and production assistant, where he quickly developed into an influential producer. Under his leadership, productions such as Das Mädchen Marion , Made in Germany - A Life for Zeiss (with Carl Raddatz in the role of Ernst Abbés ), gynecologist Dr. Sibelius and Klein Erna on the Jungfernstieg .

Zsa Zsa Gabor and Margot Hielscher are said to have been among his close circle of friends . In his production company, he had such well-known actors as Heinz Rühmann , Grethe Weiser and OW Fischer under contract.

According to his own reports, he produced "Bonanza" for the BBC and worked for an American news broadcaster when John F. Kennedy visited Berlin.

He also wrote the scripts for Rivals of the Manege (1958) and Captain Pedro's Merry War (1959). From 1965 Raspotnik went to St. Dionys in Lower Saxony to enjoy his retirement, but in 1978 he returned to Berlin as a producer in the film business. Raspotnik died on March 29, 1995 in Berlin as a result of a stroke.
