Hans Richner (born March 17, 1944 in Rupperswil ) is a Swiss physicist and meteorologist .

Life

Hans Richner received his doctorate in 1974 from the ETH Zurich with a thesis on atmospheric pressure fluctuations and biometeorology . He became a lecturer at the Institute for Atmosphere and Climate at ETH Zurich and, in 1995, adjunct professor . Richner developed meteorological instruments and observation methods at the ETH: research flights, wind profilers and radiosondes . He researched the mesoscale dynamics of the atmosphere over complex topography, local wind systems and biometeorology. He gave lectures on measurement and observation methods , agricultural meteorology and (also at the University of Konstanz ) atmospheric physics. He was significantly involved in the ALPine EXperiment ALPEX and the Mesoscale Alpine Program (a research project on weather processes in the Alpine region).

Since his retirement, Richner has been part of the working group foehn research Rheintal-Bodensee and deals with weather sensitivity . In 2017 he worked on the film Im Bann des Föhns .
