Hans Rucker

Hans Rucker (* 1931 in Marktleugast , Bavaria , Upper Franconia ; † 2011 in Munich ) was a German sculptor .

life and work

Following training as a wood sculptor in Berchtesgaden , Rucker studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1950 to 1957 under Josef Henselmann . Since then he has worked as a freelancer . In 1963 Rucker received the Antonioni Prize for Sculpture, Padua, and in 1965 the Bavarian State Prize for Sculpture. A scholarship took him to the Villa Massimo in Rome from 1966–67 .

Rucker lived and worked in Munich.

Rucker began working in wood and stone, later he also used bronze and steel . From around 1971 he preferred to use marble . Rucker created numerous sculptures for public spaces ; The overall design connecting the buildings (1979–81) at the European School in Munich should be emphasized here .
