Hans Seger (born August 28, 1864 in Neurode , district of Neurode , province of Silesia , † August 15, 1943 in Breslau ) was a German prehistorian .

Life

Hans Seger studied in Breslau with August Rossbach , Robert Vischer and August Schmarsow and in Munich with Heinrich von Brunn , Richard Muther and Berthold Riehl classical archeology and art history. As successor to Eugen von Czihak , he became director of the Museum of Silesian Antiquities in Breslau in December 1892 . He completed his habilitation in 1907 and was an honorary professor at the University of Breslau . Its territory was the prehistory of Silesia. He excavated a Neolithic settlement near Jordansmühl . The term Jordansmühler Kultur goes back to him . His successor as museum director was Karl Masner in 1899 .
