Hans Van Alphen , also Hans van Alphen , (born January 12, 1982 in Turnhout ) is a Belgian decathlete .

Life

Van Alphen first took part in a decathlon in 2002, and in 2005 he became Belgian champion. In 2007 he exceeded the 8000 point mark as second in the Universiade with 8047 points, and at the 2007 World Championships he finished eleventh with 8034 points. In 2008 he gave up after four disciplines at the Olympic Games . In 2010 he finished fifth at the European Championships with 8072 points . Van Alphen won the Götzis all- around meeting in 2012 , where he improved his Belgian national record from the previous year by 319 points. In London , the Belgian should not win a medal again at the 2012 Olympic Games . In the battle for bronze he had to admit defeat to the Cuban Leonel Suárez , van Alphen took fourth place with 8447 points.

He is 1.91 meters tall and his competition weight is 88 kilograms.
