Johannes Adrianus "Hans" Vonk (born January 30, 1970 in Alberton , South Africa ) is a former South African football goalkeeper of Dutch descent.

Career as a player

society

Vonk celebrated his greatest successes as a club player in the Dutch honor division . From 1996 to 2004 he played 263 league games with SC Heerenveen . In July 2004, he joined Ajax Amsterdam as the third goalkeeper . In the summer of 2006 he signed a two-year contract with the South African club Ajax Cape Town , which he left again after the 2007/08 season.

In October 2008 he was signed by his ex-club Ajax Amsterdam after he was previously without a club. Ajax Amsterdam reacted to the injuries of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and substitute goalkeeper Dennis Gentenaar . Both the club and the players had the option to terminate the contract during the winter break if there was no longer any need by then. The option was taken, Vonk joined SC Heerenveen . Vonk returned to South Africa in the summer of 2009, where he signed again with Ajax Cape Town. There the goalkeeper was the team captain.

National team

Vonk played 43 international matches for the South African national soccer team . He was a regular goalkeeper at the 1998 World Cup , and four years later he took part in the 2002 World Cup as a replacement for Andre Arendse .

After the active career

On November 5, 2013 Vonk became the sporting director of his former club sC Heerenveen . He resigned at the end of the 2015/16 season.
