history

Company headquarters on the Alster in the former Hotel Prem in Hamburg

Hansa Shipping was founded in 1997 and works in the field of ship management within the Hansa Treuhand group, an initiator of closed ship funds .

Starting with the last two new container ships Hansa Century and Hansa Constitution of the type BV 2700 of the Bremer Vulkan shipyard , Hermann Ebel started the ship management together with his partner, Captain Bodo Franz .

Today the company, which is based in the building of the former Hotel Prem an der Alster, fully manages around 35 container ships with loading capacities between 1,350 TEU and 6,500 TEU. In addition, four tankers of the Afra or Suezmax class and the two cruise sailing yachts from Sea Cloud Cruises, which have been part of the group since 1994, are managed. The company's management consists of Hermann Ebel and Jan Bartels, Klaus Gerken and Peter Mackeprang,

In autumn 2016, the shipping company ran into financial difficulties due to several insolvent shipping companies. The number of ships is to be reduced through the sale and scrapping of older tonnage.
