history
The ship was launched on February 18, 1937 and sailed from March 24, 1937 under the name Hanseat for its first owner Walter Richter from Hamburg . From May 1941 it was used by the Navy as a torpedo transporter. It was returned to the owner on July 31, 1944. After the end of the war, the ship was registered in Eckernförde on June 23, 1945 and transferred to the Danish government on August 6, 1946 as a reparation payment. In the following years the ship passed through many hands and changed name several times: In May 1947 it was named Ronæs , in December of the same year it was renamed Susanne S ; in May 1948 it was named Britannia and in July 1952 it was renamed Langevåg after it was sold to Norway. Further changes of ownership followed there. On October 21, 1970 the ship ran aground, but could be made afloat again. On March 8, 1974 stranded again, this time near the beacon of Måsøy . Langevåg was salvaged in July 1974 and then resold and repaired. On a voyage from Havøysund to Tana , where live fish were transported, she sank on October 30, 1975 off Helnæs Fyr in the Little Belt on the western tip of the Danish Helnæs peninsula after a leak in the engine room.
