Hanumannagar Kankalani ( Nepali हनुमाननगर कङ्‌कालिनी ) is a city ( municipality ) in the eastern Terai of Nepal in the Saptari district .

history

The city was created in September 2015 by amalgamating the Village Development Committees Gobargada , Hanuman Nagar , Inarwa , Joginiya-1 and Joginiya-2 . After it was founded, the city was named Hanumannagar Yoginimai.

In the course of the restructuring of the local level and the creation of the Gaunpalikas (rural communities) by amalgamating and abolishing the Village Development Committees on March 10, 2017, the VDCs Bhardaha , Paurataha , Madhuwapur and Rampur Malhaniya were incorporated and the city was renamed.

geography

Hanumannagar Yoginimai is located west of the Koshi River below the Koshi Dam . The city administration is located in Hanumannagar Bazar . At the time of its establishment, the urban area covered 68.1 km², after the incorporation of 2017 118.19 km².

Residents

At the 2011 census, the VDCs that made up the city of Hanumannagar Yoginimai had 20,915 inhabitants. Due to the incorporation in 2017, the population grew to 45,734.
