Harald Toppel
Harald Oskar Wilhelm Toppel (born November 20, 1949 in Berlin-Johannisthal ) is a German painter, graphic artist, collagist and draftsman. He uses the pseudonym Oscer Pioppi , previously HOW Art Toppel and H.Toppl . Toppel was one of the younger protagonists of East Berlin's lyrical abstraction in the mid-1980s and during the 1990s .
Life
After attending Ingeborg Hunzinger's ceramics workshop and drawing courses with Dieter Goltzsche in the Fine Art Studio in Berlin-Köpenick , he studied from 1973 to 1978 at the Dresden Art Academy with professors Gerhard Kettner and Christian Hasse, among others . Toppel has been working as a freelance painter and graphic artist since 1979. In 1993 he received a working grant from the Kulturfonds Foundation, Berlin, and in 1994 the Berlin Art Prize . Harald Toppel lives mainly in Berlin and works in the surrounding area, including in Bernd Hornung's third floor printing workshop in Zehdenick . Long study trips take him to Italy and Switzerland again and again.
