Harcourt Ommundsen (born November 23, 1878 in Alloa , Scotland , † September 30, 1915 in Ypres , Belgium ) was a British marksman and officer .

successes

Harcourt Ommundsen took part in the Olympic Games in London in 1908 and in Stockholm in 1912 . With the army rifle, he was part of the British team in 1908, which finished second over six different distances behind the United States and ahead of Canada. In addition to Ommundsen, Arthur Fulton , Fleetwood Varley , Edward Skilton , Philip Richardson and John Martin also won the silver medal. With 424 points he was the team's best shooter. Four years later he completed the individual competition with the army rifle at 600 m with 88 points in seventh place. In the team competition, he finished second with the army rifle with the British team over four different distances behind the United States and ahead of Sweden and thus secured another silver medal. Ommundsen was again the best shooter of the team with 276 points, which also included Arthur Fulton, Henry Burr , James Reid , Edward Parnell and Walter Padgett .

Ommundsen, son of a Norwegian and a Scot, was a lieutenant in the Honorable Artillery Company of the British Army . During the First World War , he fell in Ypres in 1915 . Ommundsen married shortly before the start of the war.
