Friedrich-Christian-
Schmidt refuge

There are refuges to the east and west of the Köhlerberg. The refuge on the Friedrichsdorf side was named after Friedrich Christian Schmidt from Seulberg, who was mayor there before and after the Third Reich . It was built by citizens and nature associations in 1960 and completely destroyed by a large falling branch in hurricane Emma in 2008. The Seulberg citizen Manfred Rühl rebuilt it on his own, the material costs were taken over by the city.

The Taunus climbing forest is located on the edge of the Seulberg forest, near the primary school (Hardtwaldschule Seulberg) . Not far from the southern edge of the forest in Bad Homburg is the Ellerhöhe observation tower , which, before the surrounding trees overtook it , offered a view of the city.
