The Harle Gatt is a cargo ship for coastal transport. The Ro-Ro ship is used to supply the North Sea island of Wangerooge and transports all goods used on Wangerooge, such as goods, building materials, vehicles or raw materials. The goods are loaded onto the island railway at the pier in Wangerooge.
The Harle Gatt is used independently of the passenger ferries Harlingerland and Wangerooge operated by SIW Schifffahrt und Inselbahn Wangerooge, operated by the Warrings shipping company . This also operates the older and smaller Harle Reef in freight traffic to Wangerooge .
Until the purchase of the cargo and ferry ship Spiekeroog IV on the neighboring island of Spiekeroog , the island was regularly called by Harle Gatt . Since the island's landing ramp can only be used to a limited extent due to the greater draft of the Spiekeroog IV , the Harle Gatt will continue to be used.
