The Harle Riff is a RoRo ship used to supply the North Sea island of Wangerooge . It transports all goods used on Wangerooge, such as goods, building materials, vehicles or raw materials. The goods are loaded onto the island railway at the pier in Wangerooge .
The Harle Riff is used independently of the passenger ferries Harlingerland and Wangerooge operated by SIW Schifffahrt und Inselbahn Wangerooge by the Warrings shipping company . This also operates the larger and newer Harle Gatt in freight traffic to Wangerooge .
Until the purchase of the Spiekeroog IV on the neighboring island of Spiekeroog , the Harle Riff was a regular guest on the island. B. for the transport of vehicles or the removal of island waste. However, since the Spiekeroog IV has had difficulties with the ramp since its purchase, the Harle Riff still has to help out.
The ship was built as part of the Mannheim 59 river ferry series by Schiffs- und Maschinenbau AG Mannheim and initially served as the Bundeswehr's river pioneer
