Karl-Heinz "Harry" Garstecki (born May 11, 1934 in Hamm ; † December 7, 2017 in Bielefeld ) was a German football player .

Career

The half- forward and outside runner Garstecki began his career in 1944 at Hammer SpVg . After switching to local rivals SV Bockum-Hövel in the meantime , he returned to Hammer SpVg in the 1950s and rose in 1957 with the red blouses in the then third-class Westphalia Association . From 1958 to 1960 Garstecki played for Phoenix Lübeck in what was then the first-class Oberliga Nord . In 23 league games in the he scored six goals, but could not prevent the relegation of his team.

Garstecki then moved to Arminia Bielefeld , who played in the third-class association league Westphalia at the time. With the Arminia he became Westphalia champion in 1962 and then made it to the 2nd Division West . With 15 games and three goals in the 1962/63 season , he helped Bielefeld to qualify for the newly created Regionalliga West . Garstecki was part of the Bielefeld squad in the Regionalliga until 1965 before he ended his career for professional reasons. In the regional league he was no longer used. In the autumn of 1973 Garstecki looked after Arminia's first team as an interim coach .

In addition to his work as a football player, the trained locksmith Garstecki was the host of the Bärenklause bar on the Alter Markt . Later he took over other bars in Bielefeld before he became caretaker of the Bielefeld school for the deaf in 1979 . In addition, Garstecki looked after the friends of the older Armines . Garstecki died on December 7, 2017 at the age of 83 in Bielefeld.
