Hart is the most populous district of Leonding with 5,086 inhabitants (as of 2011) .
geography
Hart borders the Westbahn in the north, the districts of Haag and St. Isidor in the east, and Reith and Doppl in the west. The southern border is the Wiener Straße B1 and the provincial capital Linz .
history
Hart was best known in the 1970s when the VÖEST- owned housing cooperative GIWOG began planning and building several large residential projects. Overall, living space for up to 30,000 people was to be created in Hart and the neighboring districts.
Due to severe criticism, partly also due to bad planning - for example, there was a lack of shops and a tram connection - and not least due to the international steel crisis in 1985, the will and the financial means for further construction were ultimately lacking. In 2003, the two 20-storey high-rise buildings on the Harter Plateau, which were built between 1972 and 1974 and were recently very dilapidated, were blown up with great interest from the population and the media. After the demolition, new, lower residential complexes as well as office and retail space were built on the former location of the high-rise buildings.
Infrastructure
In terms of transport, Hart is very well developed: Since August 2011, the Linz tram line 3 has run through Hart, and Hart is also served by several bus routes. There are several schools in Hart, including the HTL Leonding . In addition, both the largest park in Leonding ( Stadtpark Leonding ) and the largest hall in Leonding (Kürnberghalle) are located in Hart.
