Hartwig Peters
Hartwig Peters (born February 10, 1784 in Epenwöhrden , † September 20, 1848 in Flensburg ) was a German clergyman and publicist .
Life
Hartwig Peters was born as the son of Peter Peters (* 1754 in Schafstedt ; † 1822 in Epenwöhrden ), who worked as a teacher in Epenwöhrden and his wife Wiebke Christine nee. Hanssen (* unknown; † October 7, 1842 in Epenwöhrden) was born.
He attended the school of scholars in Meldorf and began studying theology in Kiel in 1803 . In 1808 he passed his official theological examination in Glückstadt and received his second character. On September 9, 1810 he was elected deacon by the community of Koldenbüttel and took up this office on May 19, 1811. On September 7, 1819, he was called as the main preacher and was introduced to this office on December 5, 1819, although the diaconate was abolished shortly afterwards and Hartwig Peters was the sole preacher in Koldenbüttel.
In 1825 he applied for the Diaconate St. Marien in Flensburg and was elected on September 28, 1825, the appointment took place on December 18, 1825. He remained in this office until his death in 1848.
He has also been involved in writing and has written several works and published a magazine. Since 1823 he was involved in the "Schleswig-Holstein Provincial Reports" published by Pastor Georg Peter Petersen (born February 16, 1771 in Meyn ; † October 31, 1846 in Neustadt in Holstein ). In 1831 Hartwig Peters took over the publication of the magazine on his own and renamed it “New Schleswig-Holstein-Lauenburgische Provinzialberichte”. However, in 1834 he stopped publication again.
Marriage and offspring
Hartwig Peters was married to Catharina Paulina Böckmann (* 1790; † 1878), a daughter of the higher court lawyer Peter Matthias Böckmann from Meldorf. They had five sons together.
- Eduard Peter Matthias Peters (* 1812; † 1873) senior court attorney in Meldorf established the "Nanny Peters Foundation" for worthy, needy women in Meldorf.
- Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters (born September 19, 1813 - † July 18, 1890) became professor of astronomy and director of the observatory at Hamilton College in Clinton ( New York , USA ) in 1858
- Wilhelm Carl Hartwig Peters (* April 22, 1815; † April 20, 1883) made a career as a natural scientist, carried out many research trips around the world and later became director of the Museum of Natural History and the Zoological Garden in Berlin .
- Otto Nikolaus Henning Peters (born January 7, 1819; † 1905) became provost in Flensburg and had his pastoral position in the Flensburg Church of St. Mary.
- Hartwig Peters, (* 1825) worked as a merchant in Messina (Sicily).
