From Feldkirch down via Hohenems Oberklien - Unterklien - Wallenmahd - Haslach - Mühlebach a 35 km long pilgrim path (path of humanity) leads to Dornbirn to the parish church of St. Martin .

economy

In the 19th century, the Haslach parcel consisted of four residential buildings, a bath house, a saw and later a beer hall. An old photo shows the old bathroom, which was replaced by a new one in 1874, with the attached Albrich House. The Albrich house burned down in 1896. For a long time, a Diem family was known to run the bath and their descendants are still called "Bad hosts" today.

traffic

The old country road from Hohenems to Haselstauden (via Mühlebach , Achmühle, Oberdorf , Steinebach and Kehlen - Römerstraße) has led via Haslach since ancient times. This connection was partially prone to falling rocks (see Breitenberg ).

Mine

In the early modern period, mining was carried out in Haslach. On January 4, 1537, Hans Geiger acquired a piece of land in the "Schmelzhütte" plot of land in Niederdorf . In the land register of Count Kaspar von Hohenems (1605), a "Schmelzhittle" (smelting works) is mentioned. Indications that in Dornbirn, since there were no other ore mining sites, the iron from Haslach was processed. For reasons of profitability, the mining was stopped around 1610 and resumed briefly during the Bavarian rule (1805 to 1814).

Two tunnels are still preserved. It was the iron ore ( red iron ore and clay iron ore ), which was mined here in the area of the fossil-rich Eocene scale zone of Mühlebach - Haslach - Emsreute . The largest of the tunnels, the Maxstollen, is located near the former bath house (field name: "Erzgruab"). The second gallery is about a 15-minute walk away.

In this area of the former ore mining there are large foraminifera , such as B. nummulites and dicocyclines, but also mussel shells are common.

Bathing and healing spring

The water from these springs is said to have been used for healing purposes since "ancient times". A bathing establishment existed from the 15th century.

The healing spring is acratic , inferior iron-containing sulfur springs, similar to those in Bad Kehlegg in Dornbirn. The Vorarlberger Landesarchiv contains a description of the power and effects of the Haslach bath as a drinking cure and bath cure from the 18th century .

The "Badgasse" leading to Haslach still reminds of the former Bad Haslach.
