Hassan Kurt

Hassan Kurt (also Hasan Kurt ; born January 1, 1970 in Gunde Çika , Bozova , Turkey ) is a backward runner of Kurdish origin . On October 10, 1988, he emigrated from the Kurdish settlement areas of Turkey to Eschborn in Germany .

Hassan Kurt started running in 2002 and ran his first marathon on April 25, 2009 in Weiltal .

Hassan Kurt set his first personal record with five marathons within 29 days in 2011. He ran these marathons all under four hours.

Hassan Kurt completed his first Ironman on July 8, 2012 in Frankfurt (Ironman Germany) .

On October 27, 2013, he ran his first marathon in Frankfurt completely backwards 42.195 km. He competed in the second backward marathon on October 30, 2016 at the Frankfurt Marathon.

Hassan Kurt set the first official world record on 11/12. June 2016 on the Westerbach plant in Eschborn , Niederhöchstadt . He ran 100 kilometers backwards in a time of 21 hours and 34 minutes without even looking over his shoulder. He ran 100 kilometers forward for the first time during the run in the Taubertal .

At the 6th IRR World Championship in 2016, Hassan Kurt came second in the M1 half marathon running backwards.

In October 2017, Hassan Kurt again took part in five marathons within 29 days, but ran them backwards.

Kurt is the founder of the "Reverse Runners Hessen Eschborn eV" association founded in April 2017

On 23/24 In June 2018, he beat his previous best time in reverse running over 100 kilometers and ran the distance in 16 hours, 53 minutes and 13 seconds.

When he took part in the World Retrorunning Championship in Bologna on July 15, 2018, he took first place in the marathon category (backwards) and became world champion with a time of 5:45:56.
