Hedwig Grundmann

Hedwig Grundmann , née Hedwig Graef (* 1894 in Berlin ; † 1987 ) was a German painter , graphic artist , bookplate artist and commercial teacher.

Life

Hedwig Graef, who was born in the capital of the German Empire in the late early years, graduated from high school before attending the classes of Fritz Burger-Mühlfeld and Ludwig Vierthaler at the applied arts school in Hanover from 1911 . She also did various internships in the fields of graphics, applied arts and fashion in Hanover and Berlin.

At the time of the Weimar Republic , Grundmann took a position as a commercial instructor in Dessau . She also completed a course with Johannes Itten and Heinrich Richter-Berlin in 1926, with Adolf Hölzel in Stuttgart in 1927, and Paul Klee's painting class at the Bauhaus Dessau from 1928 to 1931 .

With the beginning of her retirement, Hedwig Grundmann returned to Hanover in 1965, where she became a member of GEDOK Hanover in 1967 .

In 1979 the artist had an apartment and studio at Kaulbachstrasse 25 in the Kleefeld district of Hanover .

Works

Grundmann's works dealt with themes from nature, which she brought to paper in drawings, watercolors, with oil paints and as wax paints.

Exhibitions

Hedwig Grundmann has participated in all GEDOK exhibitions in Hanover, Paris, Vienna, Meersburg, Utrecht and Berlin-Charlottenburg since her membership. In 1974, a special exhibition on the “Open Door” program was shown in the capital of Lower Saxony.
