The Heide oak (in dialect Hareaasch ) is an old English oak between Wolfhausen and Laubuseschbach in Taunus , in Limburg-Weilburg in Hesse is.
The tree is registered as a natural monument under the registration number ND3533031 .
Location
The heather oak is located in the eastern Hintertaunus at the former intersection , which was converted into a newly built roundabout from August 8, 2016 , at the pass height 342 meters above sea level . There the L 3021 from Wolfenhausen ( 297 m ) and L 3054 from Laubuseschbach ( 295 m ) and the L 3063, which leads from Winden ( 220 m ) to Langhecke ( 232 m ), meet; Northwest of the intersection, the L 3021 and L 3063 have a common section over a length of about 770 m. It is the pass between the elevations of Rote Küppel ( 377.9 m ) and the Alteberg ( 370.3 m ) - the lowest and northernmost pass between the Emsbach and Weiltal .

The age of the heather oak is estimated to be around 250 to 300 years. The tree is about 18 meters high. The trunk circumference is about 3.70 meters.
history
The tree was probably used as a court oak in the Middle Ages . However, there is no evidence of this. The name Heideneiche (in the dialect Hareaasch) also means that the gypsies (in the dialect Hare) had stayed there at this point.
The heather oak was placed under nature protection in 1934 by the then district administrator of the Limburg district .
