The Alteberg is 370.3  m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the Taunus low mountain range . It is located near Laubuseschbach in the Hessian district of Limburg-Weilburg .

location

The Alteberg rises in the eastern Hintertaunus within the Taunus Nature Park . The summit of the mountain in the Laubuseschbach area is 0.75 kilometers (km) south of Laubuseschbach and 1 km northeast of Wolfenhausen . About 2.2 km to the west is the Rote Küppel ( 377.9  m ) near Wolfenhausen and 1.5 kilometers east of the Kirchküppel ( 384.4  m ) near Emmershausen . The Wolfenhäuser Bach rises 0.8 kilometers south-east of the Alteberg and is called Laubusbach after the Herrenwiesbach tributary below Wolfenhausen .

Natural allocation

The Alteberg belongs to the natural area main unit group Taunus (No. 30), in the main unit Eastern Hintertaunus (302) to the natural area Hasselbacher Hintertaunus (302.3).

Äbbelwoifest

In the immediate vicinity of the Alteberg has been in operation since 1998. the Äbbelwoifest, which has become a tradition far beyond the borders of Laubuseschbach, is celebrated on the feast of Ascension Day ( Father's Day ).

Mining

In earlier times there was a red iron ore mine northeast of the Alteberg . In contrast to the mountain, this pit was called Altenberg . The first mention of the mine field is from the year 1766. The first verifiable permit for iron ore mining is from June 7, 1806, that is, at the time of Wied-Runkel . The mine was closed in March 1941.

Traffic and walking
