Heidi Zeller-Bähler (born July 25, 1967 in Sigriswil ) is a former Swiss ski racer .

biography

In her first full World Cup season in 1986, Zeller-Bähler was able to classify herself in 20th place in the World Cup. In the 1989/90 season she was second behind Michaela Gerg in the downhill in Las Leñas, Argentina . She proved her versatility in the years that followed when she finished 2nd in the Super-G in Pfronten in 1991/92 (behind Anita Wachter ) and in the 1992/93 giant slalom in Klövsjö (behind Carole Merle ).

At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , Zeller finished 9th in the giant slalom, which she had already achieved in the downhill at the 1989 Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail . She did better at the 1993 Alpine World Ski Championships in Morioka when she finished 4th in the giant slalom.

But it wasn't until the 1994/95 season that she won the World Cup for the first time. At the end of the season, she finished third in the overall World Cup behind Vreni Schneider and Katja Seizinger . At the beginning of the 1995/96 season she seemed to be able to build on the performance of the pre-winter season, but after that the absolute top positions remained. At the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1996 in the Sierra Nevada , she reached 7th place in the downhill. She resigned at the end of the season.
