Heinz-Joachim "Heijo" Höfer (born September 6, 1953 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a lawyer and local and state politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since 2016.

Education, work and family

Heijo Höfer attended high school in Bad Kreuznach and passed his Abitur there in 1973. From 1974 to 1979 he studied in Mannheim and Heidelberg law . He passed his first state examination in law in 1979 in Heidelberg, and his second state examination in law in 1982 in Zweibrücken . From 1979 to 1983 worked in a law firm in Ludwigshafen. From 1983 to 1992 he worked as a state official in the division of the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of the Interior and for Sport, with positions in the then Trier district government , the Daun district administration at that time and at the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Mayen .

Höfer has been married since 1981 and has two grown children.

politics

Höfer is a member of the SPD. From March 1992 to November 2016 he was the full-time mayor of the community of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) . From March 5, 1992 to July 2, 2019, Höfer was honorary mayor of the district town of Altenkirchen. Höfer is a deputy member of the Committee of the Regions (CoR), sent by the German Association of Towns and Municipalities .

He is a member of the Altenkirchen District Council and European Commissioner for the Rhineland-Palatinate Association of Municipalities and Cities .

Höfer is a member of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Westerwald-Sieg .

As a successor to Thorsten Wehner , he has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since December 1, 2016 .
