Home community Eckernförde
The home community Eckernförde is a registered association that deals with the regional and home history in the old district of Eckernförde .
Founded in 1935 as a working group Schwansen , Amt Hütten , Dänischwohld by the local researchers Christian Kock and Willers Jessen , he has since dealt with historical and current affairs from the cultural life of this region. As part of the regional reform and the amalgamation of the Eckernförde district with the Rendsburg district to form the new Rendsburg-Eckernförde district , the association was renamed the home community Eckernförde, Schwansen, Hütten, Dänischwohld in 1970 .
A chronicle of the contemporary history of the region has been published in the yearbook of the home community since 1936 .
Within the association, working groups dealt with the following topics:
- Local chronicles
- Geological history ( paleontology )
- Genealogy
- Nature conservation and landscape management
- Low German
- Prehistory and early history .
The association currently has around 3,100 members (as of the end of 2016) and operates an office at Carlshöhe . There is also the library with national and local literature, the holdings of almost 10,000 copies can be digitally searched. Members can access the digitized archive of the Eckernförder Zeitung from 1853 to 2006 there. The archive and collections of estates, old documents, photos, letters, diaries and reports from contemporary witnesses from the old district of Eckernförde are also kept in the office.
The home community is a member of the Schleswig-Holstein Heimatbund (SHHB).
