The Heimersheimer Bach is an approximately ten kilometer long tributary of the Selz in Rheinhessen .
The water rises as an Engbach above Heimersheim in the Entenpfuhl district at an altitude of 275 m. Behind Heimersheim the brook takes on the Metzenbach and then flows along the country road towards Albig . Between the A 63 and A 61 autobahns , at the Alzey junction , it is dammed up in a flood retention basin, after which it flows mostly piped through Albig, where it takes up the Goldbach.
Behind Albig, the Heimersheimer Bach flows past the former sewage treatment plant and several small biotopes to the Albig-Ost leisure area. On the way through the wide arable landscape, it picks up the water from some ditches (mainly from the A 63). At the leisure area, he has the opportunity to enter several small pools during flooding. At the end of the site, the Heimersheimer Bach flows once again through a flood retention basin towards Biebelnheim .
Shortly before the village, it takes up the Spiesheimer Graben and then flows behind the village as Affalterbach towards Bechtolsheim . Shortly after crossing under the former Alzey – Bodenheim railway line, it flows into the Selz about half a kilometer before Bechtolsheim . Willows and poplars can often be found along the course.
In months with little rain it can happen that the bed dries out completely. The water quality is grade III to IV .
Between Albig and Bechtolsheim, a farm path, which is marked as a cycle path and loop of the Rheinhessen Pilgrimage Route , runs along the bank.
