Heinrich Eickmann (born June 13, 1870 in Nienhüsen near Lübeck , † January 29, 1911 in Berlin ) was a German painter and etcher.

Life

Heinrich Eickmann came from a humble background and was born the son of a stoker, in other documents a laborer on the Nienhüsen estate of the Niendorf estate between Moisling and Moorgarten , and was baptized in the village church of St. Georg in the neighboring Genin district. He grew up with his parents in an aisle on the light green corridor in Engelswisch in Lübeck's old town . Eickmann first studied at the Berlin Academy and then moved to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1894 , where he stayed until 1897. In 1894 he first enrolled in Karl Raupp's nature class . In 1897/1898 he was a student of Ludwig von Löfftz . Since 1897 Eickmann has been represented at major exhibitions in the German Empire such as the Great Berlin Art Exhibition , in Munich in the Glaspalast such as the Munich Secession and in Düsseldorf with his etchings. On the one hand, his subjects came from the rural life of his northern German homeland - B. from Israelsdorf or Gothmund - but he also made religious works and also etched portraits. Eickmann showed his works in oil less often. In 1903 he ran a school studio in Berlin. His graphic work was honored in a commemorative exhibition as part of the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1911.
