Heinrich Kuttruff

Heinrich Kuttruff (born August 17, 1930 in Engen near Konstanz ) is a German physicist and expert on acoustics . He is a professor emeritus at RWTH Aachen University .

Kuttruff studied physics at the University of Freiburg and the University of Göttingen with his doctorate in 1958 and his habilitation in 1962. He became an adjunct professor in Göttingen in 1968 and professor of electroacoustics at the TH Darmstadt in 1969 . From 1972 he was professor for technical acoustics (and director of the institute for technical acoustics) at RWTH Aachen University. In 1995 he retired .

He deals with technical acoustics , room acoustics and ultrasound . From 1972 to 1995 he was co-editor of Acustica and 1975 to 1995 of Applied Acoustics.

In 2005 he received the Rayleigh Medal of the British Institute of Acoustics and in 1996 the Helmholtz Medal of the German Society for Acoustics . In 1989 he became a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences . In 1988 he received the silver medal of the French Society for Acoustics. In 2003 he became an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Acoustics . In 2019 he was appointed honorary member of the German Society for Acoustics .

He is an honorary doctor of engineering.
