Heinrich Manz

Heinrich Manz (born November 24, 1852 in Amorbach ; † February 15, 1914 in Bamberg ) was a shoe manufacturer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Manz attended the Latin school in Amorbach and completed a preparatory course for the one-year voluntary exam . From 1872 to 1878 he worked as a businessman in Barmen , Elberfeld , Munich-Gladbach and then until 1880 in Bamberg. In 1880 he founded a factory in Bamberg (shaft and shoe factory, in 1907 already 250 workers). From 1872–73 he served as a one-year volunteer in the 10th Jäger Battalion in Aschaffenburg . From 1888 he worked in the Chamber of Commerce and in various community offices (poor relief, community college). In addition, from 1896 he was a board member of the district committee for trade and commerce, eight years chairman of the general local health insurance fund and member of the arbitration tribunal for pensions. From 1894 he was a commercial judge, first board member of the Association for People's Health Resorts in Upper Franconia, member of the Bavarian Railway Council and first chairman of the Association of German Shoe and Shaft Manufacturers. He made extensive trips through the United States of North America, England, France, Italy, etc.

From 1907 to 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency Middle Franconia 2 Erlangen , Fürth , Hersbruck and the Free People's Party .

The Palas of the Altenburg in Bamberg was built with his financial support, which is why a memorial plaque was placed there for him. Heinrich-Manz-Straße in Bamberg is named after him.
