Heinrich Oswald (politician)
Heinrich Oswald (born May 8, 1866 in Dösing , † October 26, 1945 in Munich ) was a German trade unionist , administrative officer and politician ( center , BVP ).
Life and work
Heinrich Oswald was born on May 8, 1866 as the son of a shepherd in Dösing near Deggendorf . After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a shepherd in his parents' business and then worked as a farmhand. He did military service from 1886 to 1889 and worked from 1889 to 1903 as a machine worker in the Royal Main Laboratory in Ingolstadt . In 1894 he was a founding member of the Ingolstadt Catholic Workers' Association. In addition, he took a course in Catholic adult education and thus obtained the qualification as a workers secretary. In 1903 Oswald took over the secretariat of the Christian trade unions in Aschaffenburg . From 1907 to 1912 he was chairman of the Christian Central Association of State, Community, Aid and Transport Workers . In 1912 he became a legal protection officer at the central office of the southern German Catholic workers' associations in Munich. Heinrich Oswald died in Munich on October 26, 1945.
politics
During the German Empire, Oswald was a member of the Center Party and from 1905 to 1918 a member of the Chamber of Deputies . From 1905 he first represented the constituency of Miltenberg, from 1907 to 1918 the constituency of Aschaffenburg and finally in 1919 the constituency of Ingolstadt-Schrobenhausen. After the First World War he joined the Bavarian People's Party (BVP), for which he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1919 to 1928 . He was appointed to the State Council in the State Ministry for Social Welfare on June 1, 1919 and served as Minister of Social Affairs of the Free State of Bavaria from March 16, 1920 to July 31, 1928 . He then served until December 11, 1929 as State Secretary without a mandate in the State Ministry of Agriculture and Labor.
