Heinrich Schmidhuber (born February 21, 1936 in Freyung ) is a German bank manager, politician and football official. As a member of the CSU , he was a member of the Bavarian state parliament from 1970 to 1978 . From 1998 to 2004 he served as President of the Bavarian Football Association (BFV). From October 23, 2004 to October 26, 2007 Schmidhuber was a member of the Presidium of the German Football Association (DFB) as treasurer .

Schmidhuber grew up in the Bavarian Forest during the Second World War . From 1942 to 1949 he attended elementary school in Freyung. He then moved to the municipal business school in Passau , which he completed in 1952 with a secondary school leaving certificate. At Kreissparkasse Wolfstein he completed a three-year apprenticeship as a banker. After the examination for the high-class Sparkasse service, he took over the management of the branch of the Sparkasse in Waldkirchen in 1961 (until 1970) and was director of the Sparkasse Freyung-Grafenau from 1978 to 1986 . In addition to his professional career, Schmidhuber was also politically active from the early 1960s. He joined the CSU in 1963 and initially took over the office of district chairman in the Wolfstein district of their youth organization Junge Union , and later from 1967 to 1970 that of district chairman in Lower Bavaria . In 1966, when he was elected to the Wolfsteiner Kreisag, he was given a political mandate for the first time. Schmidhuber's private interest has always been in football. From 1964 on, he held various positions at district and district level for the Bavarian Football Association (BFV). After Ernst Knoesel was forced to resign as a result of the financial affair surrounding the Oberhaching sports school , Schmidhuber was elected President of the BFV in 1998. In the six years of his presidency, he led the association back into calmer waters and was elected honorary president after his resignation. Awards

Schmidhuber was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany on April 1, 2007 for his numerous services to football, his commitment in social areas, local politics and the savings bank system, as well as his contribution to the design of the successful 2006 World Cup ; he had already received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1993. He has been an honorary citizen of the city of Waldkirchen since 1996 and received the Bavarian Order of Merit in the same year . Schmidhuber also received the badge of honor in gold with silver laurel leaf from the Bavarian State Sports Association (2000) and the sports award from the Bavarian Prime Minister (2003). He is the first honorary president of the Bavarian Football Association (2004) and honorary member of the German Football Association.
