Heinrich Schmidhuber (born September 19, 1811 in Freiberg , † January 14, 1867 in Schneeberg (Ore Mountains) ) was a German mountain official from the Saxon Ore Mountains .

Life

Schmidhuber was born as the son of a shift foreman in the Saxon mountain town of Freiberg. Since his father went to Altenberg for work , he grew up in the upper Eastern Ore Mountains and attended the elementary school and then the community school in his new home town. Then, beginning with the apprenticeship year 1830/1831, he went to study at the Bergakademie Freiberg , after which he became gang hunter at the Himmelsfürst mine . During his activity there he developed the idea of a geognostic and mining investigation of South Carolina, which he actually carried out during his vacation. The rhyme book Plötziade was created in America with the subtitle Long journeys and life events Des Herr Plötz so zealously in the mine And from America to China some 'praiseworthy mine brought' on the leg , which he had anonymously moved in Freiberg in 1847 by JG Engelhardt. This book is based on Schmidhuber's experiences about the circumstances of the time in Saxon mining , which he satirically put into the mouth of the fictional miner Leberecht Plötz.

On returning from America, Schmidhuber became Ganghäuer in Kleinvoigtsberg, then Untersteiger and finally Vice-Obersteiger. In 1837 he went to Geyer and Ehrenfriedersdorf , where he was elected a mountain jury and worked as a tin scales master and iron stone knife. The last station of his professional career was Schneeberg , where he worked as a mountain jury. During this time, in 1856, together with H. Müller, he published a map of the area around Schneeberg .

In the meantime he had undertaken a research trip to Norway, where he was temporarily responsible for the overhead management of the nickel and cobalt mines in Snarum .
