Heinrich Vollmar (born May 1, 1839 in Paderborn ; † July 8, 1915 ) was a Catholic priest and field provost ( military bishop ) of the Prussian armed forces.

Heinrich Vollmar was born the son of a businessman in Paderborn, attended grammar school in his hometown, studied philosophy and Catholic theology and was ordained a priest as a clergyman in the diocese of Paderborn on August 15, 1863 . First he officiated as vicar (chaplain) in Gütersloh until he switched to military chaplaincy in the Prussian garrison Trier at the suggestion of his bishop Konrad Martin . Here he moved out with the troops in 1870 and took part in the entire Franco-German War of 1870/71 as a chaplain. Because of his tireless pastoral work and his fearlessness, he received the Iron Cross 2nd class on the non-combatant band. From 1876 to 1894 Vollmar officiated successively as a military pastor or high pastor in Altona , Metz , Rendsburg , Graudenz , Königsberg and Hanover . In 1894, the then Prussian field provost, Bishop Johannes Maria Assmann , appointed him to Berlin in the same position , and in 1901 he appointed him his vicar general .

When Assmann died unexpectedly during a spa stay in 1903, Heinrich Vollmar succeeded him in office. On November 9, 1903 he was appointed Catholic Prussian field provost and titular bishop of Pergamum . He received his episcopal ordination on February 10, 1904 from Cardinal Georg Kopp . By virtue of his office, Vollmar was responsible for all Catholic army and marine soldiers with families, not only in Prussia, but also in the small German states and in the realm of Alsace-Lorraine . When he took office, the Prussian military chaplains organized a collection and had a splendid bishop's staff made as a gift for the pastor. The prelate served as field provost until the end of 1913 and died in 1915. a. Cantilenae Sacrae , a collection of Latin church service chants and a military prayer book entitled The Catholic Soldier . This appeared again after his death, in the First World War . For his services he was awarded, among other things, the Order of the Red Eagle . His successor as field provost was Bishop Heinrich Joeppen .

On February 1, 1906, the Faculty of Theology awarded him the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg , the honorary doctorate .
