Heinrich Wedemhof (politician, 1584)
Heinrich Wedemhof (born September 11, 1584 in Lübeck ; † January 9, 1651 ibid) was a German politician and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
Life
Heinrich Wedemhof was one of the sons of Lübeck councilor Heinrich Wedemhof , who came from Münster / Westphalia and was one of the richest citizens of the city with an estate of 200,000 Marks on his death . His brother Bernhard Wedemhof († 1627) was also a councilor from Lübeck.
Heinrich Wedemhof studied law at the University of Strasbourg from 1596 - together with his brother Bernhard and Thomas Lindemann , who was traveling as a Preceptor - and from 1611 at the University of Rostock . He was appointed to the Lübeck Council in 1628, shortly after the death of his brother Bernhard. As early as 1631 he was appointed one of the city's mayors . Wedemhof was the town’s treasurer from 1631 to 1635 and again in 1641. The council gave him the Strecknitz estate as a benefice . Like his brother Bernhard, he was also given an epitaph in the Marienkirche in Lübeck . It came into the museum in 1892 and is now on display in the St-Annen-Museum .
He was married in the first marriage to Elisabeth Wibbeking, daughter of Paul Wibbeking and in the second marriage to Emerentia von Dassel , daughter of Ludolf von Dassel, councilor of Lüneburg. Sixteen years before his death, he was unable to leave his house to go about his official business because of his “weak body”.
