Heinrich Wydler (born April 24, 1800 in Zurich , † December 6, 1883 in Gernsbach , Baden ) was a Swiss botanist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Wydler ”.

Live and act

Wydler undertook a plant-collecting expedition to the West Indies from 1826 to 1827 . From 1828 to 1830 he worked at the Botanical Garden in Saint Petersburg . He then was curator of the de Candolle botanical collection at the University of Geneva until 1834 . Wydler was a professor in Bern from 1835 to 1853 . After his marriage, he moved to Strasbourg in 1840 .

Wydler's specialty was plant morphology.

Honors

The plant genus Wydleria DC. from the umbelliferae family (Apiaceae) has been named in his honor.
