Heinrich von Raesfeld (born April 12, 1521 - April 1, 1597 ) was vicar general and canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Heinrich von Raesfeld came from the Westphalian noble family von Raesfeld , from which numerous well-known personalities emerged. Its members belonged to the Catholic faith . He was the son of Wilbrand von Raesfeld zu Empte and his wife Margarethe von Wischel. His brothers Rotger and Johann were canons in Münster, his uncle Gottfried von Raesfeld cathedral dean .

Act

Heinrich studied at the artist faculty in Cologne and became canon in Minden on September 12, 1556 . From 1561 he was vicar general and sealer at the episcopal court in Münster. In 1574 he became a scholar in St. Martini's Church . After the death of his brother Rotger, who had died of the rampant plague , his uncle Gottfried presented him with a cathedral preacher from Münster . He accepted this on August 16, 1575. In December, the Roman Curia declared the award to be unlawful, as it was about the controversial hereditary donor. Nevertheless, emancipation took place in 1579. He was elected provost of the Old Cathedral on February 14, 1587. On September 23, 1594, he received permission from the cathedral chapter to have his mother, who had died the previous day, buried in the cathedral as an exception because of her services. Heinrich was in possession of the Obedience Buldern .
