Heinz Erich Eisenhuth

Heinz Erich Eisenhuth (born May 8, 1903 in Frankfurt am Main ; † July 26, 1983 in Pferdsdorf / Werra ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Heinz Erich Eisenhuth studied theology in Rostock , Tübingen and Berlin from 1922 to 1926 and became Lic.theol in 1927. in Berlin. He continued his educational path by studying philosophy in Frankfurt am Main , where he received his doctorate in 1929. phil. From 1927 he was vicar in various rural communities, 1928 city vicar in Frankfurt / Main, 1931 private lecturer in Leipzig , where he became Dr. theol. habil. has been.

In April 1933 Eisenhuth joined the NSDAP .

In 1935 he was given a teaching post in Leipzig for philosophy of religion and social ethics . In 1936 he became a deputy chair for systematic theology in Jena . He joined the Nazi church movement German Christians and became one of its leading representatives. From 1937 to 1945 Eisenhuth was a full professor for systematic theology. From 1939 he also worked in Eisenach at the Institute for Research and Elimination of the Jewish Influence on German Church Life . In this function, in 1941, in a racist report on the position of baptized Jews in the Church , he demanded to exclude “Jewish Christians” […] “as enemies of the Reich from any form of worship” and from pastoral care by German pastors. From spring to autumn 1943 he was acting head of the institute.

From autumn 1943 Eisenhuth served voluntarily as a soldier in the Wehrmacht .

After he was dismissed from the university in 1945, he was first provisional in 1946, and later in the main office pastor in Jena- Zwätze . In 1952 he became superintendent in Eisenach . For a few years he headed the Evangelical Academy of Thuringia and was part of the synod .

After waiting on hold in 1967, he retired in 1969.
