Heinz Feilzer

Heinz Feilzer (born January 10, 1928 in Münstermaifeld ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Feilzer is the son of Johannes Feilzer and his wife Margarete Gilles. His school days at the Kurfürst-Balduin-Gymnasium were interrupted by the Second World War. He served as an air force helper for two years and was only able to take his Abitur in 1948 . He then studied at the Universities of Trier , Munich and Bonn . In 1954 he was able to successfully complete his studies at the theological faculty in Trier with a thesis on the dogmatist Heinrich Klee .

In April 1954 Feilzer received by the Bishop of Trier Matthias Wehr in the Cathedral of St. Peter the priesthood . He then worked until 1957 as a chaplain in an industrial parish in Neunkirchen (Saar) . Subsequently, he was entrusted with the office of the diocesan youth pastor of the diocese of Trier .

In the spring of 1966, Feilzer successfully passed the parish qualification exam. Five years later (February 5, 1971) he received his doctorate from the University of Vienna ; his dissertation was entitled Youth in the Medieval Estates Society . Back in his homeland, he worked as regional dean in Wittlich (Mosel-Eifel-Hunsrück region) from April of the same year .

From the winter semester 1972/73 Feilzer was in charge of the chair for pastoral theology at the Trier Theological Faculty. For the 1980/81 winter semester, Feilzer took on a teaching position at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken and then returned to Trier. There he was appointed full professor with effect from October 1, 1982 . In 1988/89 he acted as dean and with effect from April 1, 1995 he retired .

Since then, Feilzer has worked part-time and mostly on an honorary basis as a pastor in the Trier-Kernscheid branch community .
