Heinz Günther Hüsch (born June 13, 1929 in Karken ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ). He lives in Neuss (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Life and work

Hüsch studied law and received his doctorate in Cologne in 1956 on criminal law in Neuss between 1074 and 1794 .

He was one of the founders of the CDU in Neuss and was chairman of the Junge Union for many years . From November 1956 to October 2009 he was a non-stop member of the city council of Neuss. 1998–1999 he was chairman of the CDU council group.

In 1966, Hüsch was elected to succeed Adolf Flecken in Neuss as a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, of which he was a member until 1976. There he was chairman of the economic committee and, together with the two MPs Peter Giesen and Hans-Ulrich Klose, campaigned for the interests of the city of Neuss and the then Grevenbroich district in the reorganization of the municipality.

From 1976 to 1990 Heinz Günther Hüsch was a member of the German Bundestag . He won the constituency Neuss-Grevenbroich I and Neuss I directly, among others against the then President of the Bundestag Annemarie Renger . While he was a member of the Bundestag, Hüsch was chairman of the mediation committee, deputy chairman of the committee for economic cooperation, chairman of the Flick committee of inquiry and chairman of the now famous “ New Home ” committee.

In the period from 1968 to 1989 was Hüsch Germany's chief negotiator in the top secret channel over the ransom of 226,654 Germans in Romania . In the course of this he had more than 200 official and between 600 and 1000 unofficial meetings with representatives of the Romanian government under the code name Eduard given to him by the Securitate . His mission only ended with the fall of the Ceaușescu regime during the Romanian Revolution in 1989 . Hüsch has handed over his files on the secret channel channel to the Federal Archives in Koblenz .

In 1972, Hüsch was the rifle king in Neuss, and for many years he was chairman of the Association of Heimatfreunde Neuss e. For decades he was a member of the church council of the Catholic parish of St. Quirin (see also Quirinus-Münster (Neuss) and Quirinus von Neuss ) in Neuss. He is one of the founders of Augustinus Hospiz Neuss eV, of which he is honorary chairman (2016).

He is a member of the Catholic student associations KD St. V. Asgard Cologne in the Cartell Association of Catholic German Student Associations (CV).

Hüsch is the holder of the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany , the Order of Merit of North Rhine-Westphalia , the "Hessen Prize" and the Pro Merito Melitensi Order of Merit . In 2014, Hüsch was awarded the highest award by the Banat Swabian country team , the “Prinz-Eugen-Nadel”. In 2019, the city of Neuss will be the first to honor Hüsch with its coat of arms.

His daughter Hanni Hüsch works as a correspondent for ARD .
