Heinz Geuen

Heinz Geuen (* 1954 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German music teacher and rector of the Cologne University of Music and Dance .

Live and act

Geuen passed his Abitur in 1973 in Neuss and then studied school music at the Hanover University of Music as well as social sciences and French for teaching at the University of Hanover . After his clerkship in Wilhelmshaven , he worked from 1981 to 1991 as a teacher at secondary schools in Hildesheim and Kassel as well as an educational assistant at the University of Kassel , where he from 1991 Academic Council, and also from 1997, head of the department was music.

He received his doctorate in 1996. Since 2002 he has been Professor of Music Education at the Cologne University of Music . From 2007 to 2009 he was dean of the departments of music education, musicology, choral conducting and church music and then until 2013 Vice-Rector for Studies, Teaching and Research. He has been the rector of the university since 2013.

The focus of his academic work is on the theoretical foundations of music pedagogy as well as the topics of “Audiovisuality and Music” and “Popular Music and Media”. Geuen is the author and editor of numerous specialist publications.
