Heinz Hohmeister
Heinz Hohmeister (born September 21, 1940 in Gudwallen , East Prussia ; † December 10, 2017 in Delligsen ) was a German roofer and churchman. For decades he supported his homeland in East Prussia, which had become Russian.
Life
At the age of three, Hohmeister lost his mother. The father was at war. So the grandparents took care of him and his brother. Expelled from the former East Prussia with the last Germans in 1948, he met his father again in West Germany. In his new home, in the Leinebergland , he was involved in the Delligsen council for 24 years - from 1972 to 1996 . For 45 years, six of them as chairman, he sat on the church council of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Georg zu Delligsen. Throughout his life and with all his might, he supported the community of Protestant East Prussians and their work in the communities of the Kaliningrad Oblast . At the beginning of the 1990s he founded the “Help for Self-Help Association Elze” and headed it for years. With the help of this association and two Lions clubs , he devoted himself to humanitarian aid in his homeland, which he had lost as a child. He supported the old people's home in Sadoroschje (Mallenuppen / Gembern), named after the Russian-German theologian Carl Blum , with clothing, medicine and walking aids. From home roofer and a teacher at a vocational school, he helped himself to rebuild his birthplace and other buildings. He drove his van himself to Osjorsk (Darkehmen / Angerapp) over a hundred times . In Osjorsk Raion , parcels were distributed, school meals were organized and help was provided for very special emergencies. He brought relief supplies to Kaliningrad , e.g. B. for the Museum Stadt Königsberg in Duisburg with regard to exhibitions in the German-Russian House and in the Kaliningrad Regional Museum for History and Art in the former town hall (Königsberg) . Nobody impressed Wolf von Lojewski more than Heinz Hohmeister.
