Heinz Pepperle

Heinz Pepperle (born June 1, 1931 in Grasengrün ) is a German historian of philosophy .

Life

After moving to Germany in 1946, Heinz Pepperle completed vocational training as an electrician and radio mechanic. He passed his Abitur in 1952 at the  Workers and Farmers Faculty of the University of Jena . He then studied philosophy , political economy and history until 1957 . From 1957 to 1960 he was a research assistant at the Philosophical Institute of the University of Halle . Then Heinz Pepperle moved to the emerging Institute for Philosophy of the German Academy of Sciences (later Central Institute for Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR). There he worked on the Philosophical Dictionary , the first edition published by Georg Klaus and Manfred Buhr in 1964 (article on Catholic philosophy and terms from ancient ontology and metaphysics ). In 1966 he received his doctorate. From 1976 to 1992, Heinz Pepperle was a professor at Humboldt University : in 1977 he received his doctorate as a Dr. sc. phil., in 1978 he took over a lectureship and in 1983 he was appointed full professor. The main subject areas in the history of philosophy were the history of philosophy from the beginning of classical German philosophy to the present day, the history of Marxist philosophy, and the history and problems of the criticism of religion and atheism . The main research area has been the German Vormärz since graduating from university .
